- AACF opened 3 new Donor Advised Funds for a total of 8- Barbara and Frank Rice Memorial, Charles Briscoe Memorial, E.H. Culpepper Memorial, Benson, Inc., Thornton Brothers, Inc., Heyward Allen Motor Company, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the Vivian and Mamie Fisher Educational Funds.
- AACF received 501c3 status with the help of Trinity Accounting Group. Trinity completed AACF’s 2008 Form 990 and a 2009 Short Form 990 pro bono and Trinity will conduct AACF’s July–June 2010 Audit next year.
- NGCF is providing back office services to AACF. The relationship will allow AACF to continue to pool its investments with NGCF to avoid extra fees and maximize the community’s returns. In addition, AACF will take advantage of NGCF’s well established Blackbaud and Financial Edge systems for tracking and reporting.
- AACF increased awareness and organizational development through presentations, news articles, and radio shows. AACF worked with colleagues to produce a “Key Facts about Georgia’s Community Foundations” publication. AACF collaborated with groups including the Athens Area Estate Planners Network, the Non-Profit Development Alliance, and local Business Retention & Expansion experts. Staff received technical assistance from Dr. Chao Guo and Dr. Michelle Carney and professional development through LEAD Athens.
